L'Observatoire

Observing together.

L'Observatoire is a collective of Qi Gong, meditation, and Tuina massage teachers, where inner observation is at the heart of the teaching.

Movement and stillness

At L'Observatoire, the primary teaching is the practice of… observation itself!

For us, it is the very heart of the discipline. Mobility exercises and posture work are all tools that support the development of this inner observation.

Thus, Qi Gong is taught mainly as a way to deepen our capacity to observe ourselves, while also improving mobility and flexibility. The same goes for meditation.

Every practice taught at L'Observatoire aims to cultivate this ability to observe oneself in order to better understand oneself. Here, mobility, healing practices, and meditation are all tools in service of this observation.

A collectively designed pedagogy

Drawing on their many years of practice and teaching, the instructors at L'Observatoire aim to offer an open and horizontal approach to pedagogy.

This teaching method is designed to adapt to all levels and to support each student in their uniqueness and individuality.

The ultimate goal is to grow together through the process of learning and teaching, so that practitioners develop not only solid practical foundations but also a refined sense of guidance and understanding, should they wish to share their knowledge in turn.

A new vision of teaching

Our many years of experience working with students have shown us the harm caused by exam-based systems—the stress and anxiety they generate.

Because we believe that both individual and collective growth do not depend on a certificate, but rather on each person’s capacity and needs, L'Observatoire operates without grades or examinations.

We trust students to know when they are ready—not because a piece of paper validates them, but because their own experience as practitioners naturally leads them to share and transmit what they have learned.

Deconstructing the traditional school patterns we too often rely on, in order to offer a more organic vision of learning, is at the core of L’Observatoire’s DNA.

Deepen and understand

The teachers at L’Observatoire have had the opportunity to train intensively in China. This daily practice is incomparable to weekly sessions. The year-long workshops are designed to make practice an integral part of our daily lives.

Collective learning, tailored guidance

Immersing oneself in a practice for a year or more, within a group, is a rare and enriching human experience. Our teaching approach is designed to help each person progress at their own pace, while fostering group dynamics and collective growth.

A practice for the modern era

We aim to transmit a practice that is not a sarcophagus. We want it to be contemporary, engaged, and aware of the currents of the world. At L’Observatoire, it is almost a manifesto to situate practice within the changes of our time and to reflect on its transformations.

Qi Gong

Qi Gong is a health-promoting exercise in meditation. Its essence is observation, which lies at the heart of its teaching at L’Observatoire.

Philosophy

Without theory, practice has no foundation to build upon. Theoretical teaching is therefore an essential component of the courses, providing the basis for practice.

Meditation

Qi Gong without meditation is merely simple exercise. That is why meditation is essential for its understanding and full realization.

Practice sessions for everyone

Full-day or half-day, in-person or online, themed classes in Qi Gong, mobility, meditation, or philosophical teaching to explore or advance your practice.

Guidance without a year-long commitment

If a particular practice appeals to you, the classes allow you to practice over a few weekends. It’s a good way to deepen a practice without the pedagogical structure of a year-long workshop.

Online: Short practices directly from home

Although L’Observatoire is primarily a place for in-person teaching, occasional or regular classes can also be offered online.

Qi Gong

Various styles of Qi Gong depending on whether you are seeking mobility, healing, or the development of subtle sensations.

Meditation

Whether you are a beginner or looking for a place to practice, the meditation classes and workshops are suitable for all levels.

Tuina massage

From beginner to advanced training, the Tuina massage workshops allow you to acquire simple and effective tools to promote well-being around you.

Observation is compassion

The knowledge shared and transmitted at L’Observatoire carries a vision that extends beyond practice alone.

That is why L’Observatoire is committed to donating 3% of the annual workshop fees to HuSoMe, led by Dr. Raphaël Pitti, which works to support children and families in conflict zones.
